JIMMY YUKKA AND HIS AMAZING BAND
Jimmy Yukka and his Amazing Band is a two piece band. The shows are full of energy and drama that crosses punk, sexy rock, funk and Hip-Hop. The music often tells a story and it is fitting that the latest recording is called “Bedtime stories”. However the stories are quite likely to give you nightmares.
In the past both members have been associated with various musical projects ranging from Electro and Metal to Acoustic and have supported lots of great bands including of The Arctic Monkeys, Sunk Loto, Girls Germs and You am I.
BAND MEMBERS
JIMMY YUKKA
Charasmatic insane vocalist and guitarist Jimmy Yukka loves performing front of a crowd. He enjoys a range of different styles of music that are reflected in song writing. He currently resides in Melbourne.
He is also working on a new Action movie Rock show called Carroline Towers. He is originally from Sheffield UK where he was the lead singer for Fred Yukka (2002-2005)which was a 3 piece band with no base player. The band Fred Yukka had written and recorded many tunes which are available on itunes.
Jimmy was also in another 5 piece band called Calmoprofunda which was a fusion of rock drum and base and hip hop. One of his favourites tunes was a Trip Hop cover version of “Love me like a reptile” by Motorhead. The music was created using a mixture of rock guitar and techno devices with sysnthesizers and along with acoustic percussion and the sound of the didgerido.
Jimmy New Equipment
The ENGL Thunder is a gorgeous all valve 50 watt amp. It has now replaced my crate and tonelabs and the main part of my setup (I have retained the crate speaker so am using it with two output speakers).
Jimmy Guitars
Below Fenix by Young Chang. Its an unrefined brutal beast. It has a moderate build quality and a little grounding noise and the knob covers were annoying so have been removed. It also has a floyd rose locking tremalo system has now been “fixed” with the use of a clothes peg lodged in the back making the bridge solid. It has many floors but I have tried many guitars and keep coming back to it because it has some really good aggressive tones. I call it the “Yang”.
Beneath the Fenix is the Yamaha AES 620. This is a thing of pure beauty, everything the yang is not it is sensitive, sweet, clean and precise – very well behaved. I call this the “Ying”.
I also use a
Zoom H4n recorder (to record ideas etc)
Vox Tonelab SE
This gives my all my sounds. It has some massive tones
Crate Block amp and Crate cabinet
A lightwieght amp and speaker combo that deliverers a high amount of base and does not colour the sound from the tonelab.
Jimmy is known by day as Paul and he has a personal blog here
QUIK STIX
Drums!
With more style, speed and agility than a high octane powered V8 and as delicate as a flower Quik Stix is an integral part of the Amazing Band. Past musical efforts have seen him team up with acts to play pubs, clubs and festivals throughout Queensland and Melbourne and support great acts such as You AM I, Sunk Loto and Girls Germs. Currently Quik Stix played in Melbourne Prog act Schelite and is now drummer for Apache Medicine Man.
